Lisa Mathess joined the Job Accommodation Network (JAN) Motor Team as a Consultant in February 2011. She later earned the title of Senior Consultant. Lisa now provides expert level consultation and team leadership as a Lead Consultant on JAN’s Motor Team. As the lead member of the Motor Team, Lisa provides one-on-one guidance on job accommodations and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). She assists employees and employers with understanding their rights and responsibilities under the ADA and in identifying accommodation solutions for individuals with various medical impairments, with an emphasis in motor impairments. Lisa writes for JAN on ADA and accommodation topics, presents on ADA and accommodation issues at various national conferences, and provides customized training to JAN audiences and advocacy groups.
Lisa earned a Master of Arts degree in Communication Studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from West Virginia University. She continues to further her education and maintain credentials by earning CEUs for various certifications, such as the Assistive Technology Applications Certificate Program (ATACP), Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), and is currently preparing for the Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC) Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS) exam.
