Open fit and bone conductions headsets allow access to telephones and other sound sources without occluding the ear canal.  They may be helpful for those who experience difficulty when using a standard headset.  Some conditions that can cause this type of difficulty include ear pain, susceptibility to ear infections, and absent or unusually shaped outer ears.
