A Bittersweet Goodbye

Giving best wishes to Lou

Over the past 20+ years, I have had an incredible professional and personal experience as JAN’s Associate Director. But, my time at JAN has come to a close. I have resigned as of the end of October. Anne Hirsh, who graciously shared the Directorship with me for more than a decade, will continue to provide the quality of leadership that has made JAN the incredible program it is. Anne can be reached at hirsh@jan.wvu.edu.

I have given considerable thought to this decision and I feel it is the right time to take another opportunity. I have taken a position with Bender Consulting Services to support the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. This position will enable me to use the invaluable knowledge gained at JAN to positively impact the DoD community.

This is bittersweet as I leave a dedicated, talented, and passionate group of individuals at JAN. Together, we achieved so much. For the past 10+ years, the JAN brand has developed and strengthened by what we affectionately called “One Big Brain” – a strategic leadership team with complementary skills and expertise who are always tracking and responding to trends in accommodation and workplace inclusion.

Throughout this time, our online tools and resources have greatly expanded, our customer service remains second to none, and we continue to attract passionate and expert talent. If you have not, to this point, gotten to know our team, please give them a look. They are the bedrock of JAN.

As my time at JAN wraps up, I would like to thank many of you for the support and friendship through the years. JAN has been and will continue to be one of the best government-funded programs. And, I am glad to have been part of its history.

I wish you all the best until our paths cross again. If you want to contact me, I can be reached via email at orslene@gmail.com

Warmest regards, Lou
