Navigating Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) Accommodation Requests
Date: Thursday July 11, 2024
Training Type: Webcast Series Training
Description:
The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) requires covered employers to make reasonable accommodations for qualified applicants and employees with known limitations related to, affected by, or arising out of, pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless the accommodation will cause an undue hardship for the employer. An interactive accommodation process, similar to the process applied under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), can help employers navigate PWFA accommodation requests and ultimately provide reasonable and effective solutions to retain valuable employees. This training will offer accommodation process insights and practical strategies, will explore some of the key differences between the PWFA and the ADA, and will include accommodation solutions to help promote an inclusive and supportive work environment.
Presenters:
- Lisa Mathess, Principal Consultant, ADA Specialist
- Tracie DeFreitas, Program Leader, Director of Training and Outreach
- Jeanne Goldberg, Attorney Advisor, Office of General Counsel, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
